In history, 1946 was an epochal year — President Truman officially ended WWII hostilities, Nazi war criminal Hermann Göring poisoned himself two hours before his execution at Nuremberg, and the United States conducted its first nuclear weapon tests on Micronesia’s Bikini Atoll (coincidentally, the first bikini swimsuit was modeled in Paris four days later).
