BHAKTA 1990 Jamaican Rum
BHAKTA 1990 Jamaican Rum
New World Spirit, Old World Cask Finish. This rich, deep, and opulent barrel-aged rum bears an extraordinary age statement backed up by craft pedigree and unrivaled complexity. Hailing from two singular distilleries, BHAKTA 1990 Jamaican Rum blends 1985 25 Year Jamaican column still rum from Clarendon/Monymusk (CHP) with 1990 23 Year Jamaican pot still rum from Appleton Estates (APEL). Fortuitously coupled in 2014, this exquisite blend of column- and pot-stilled rum enjoyed a further three years aging in second-fill MGP bourbon and rye barrels before earning its signature cask finish.
Two vintages. Two distinct distillation methods. Two distinguished distilleries, bound by history. Five unique barrel finishes. A rum this exquisite comes only once a lifetime.

Jim Murray Reviews BHAKTA 1990 Rum
"Above average esters give this a glossy richness on the nose. However, the spices are of an alien kind and almost certainly picked up from the French oak in use. There is also a relaxed fruitiness that steers this away from the standard old Jamaicans, yet all the components to make this aroma are brittle to the point of being about to shatter. Good age, but no sign of tiredness whatsoever."

TASTING NOTES

Aged 26 years and released at 124 proof, BHAKTA 1990 Rum shows a light amber aspect in the glass followed by delicate aromas of orange essence, butterscotch, virgin American oak, pipe tobacco, ripe banana, and honeydew on the nose. The palate delivers rich layers of fig, red fruit, allspice, and clove, finishing dry with strong notes of whipped frosting, apricot, nutmeg, and licorice.

“Single Vintage Spirits are the absolute pinnacle of drinks: today, tomorrow, and yesterday.
There is no more precise indicator of quality and provenance than vintage, and only BHAKTA owns the oldest, largest, and rarest collection of vintage spirits on Earth. Enthusiasts no longer need to settle for empty and misleading ‘Age Statements.”
