Uncommonly Complex Bourbon
Bold American Bourbon Meets Ancient Armagnac Brandy—France’s Crown Jewel. An exceptional coupling of our French and American Cellars, BHAKTA 2013 Bourbon unites two spirits in celebration of a shared legacy. After harvest and distillation in the American heartland, this complex 99% Corn Bourbon underwent a secondary cask finish in French Oak barrels selected from Château BHAKTA’s finest stock—chosen for their pedigree, these casks have each held ancient blends of Armagnac Vintages dating back to 1868. Released at just shy of 10 Years age, BHAKTA 2013 Bourbon symbolizes America’s iconic bond with its oldest ally.

BHAKTA 2013 Bourbon
A limited release of cask strength 2013 Bourbon Whiskey, BHAKTA 2013 Bourbon has seen 10 Years of barrel age before receiving its signature cask finish in a freshly emptied Armagnac Cask, in which our exquisite BHAKTA 50 Armagnac blends previously aged. Single vintage; unparalleled complexity.

A Return to Whiskey
This landmark single-year whiskey curated from the global cellars of Raj Peter Bhakta designates the beginning of BHAKTA Spirits’ ’Drink Vintage’ campaign; his first-ever bourbon, this singular vintage release symbolizes his return to his infamous métier — whiskey — which vaulted him to prominence as an iconic progenitor of the American craft spirits movement.

Drink Vintage
If you’ve ever heard a sommelier hold court on the quality and complexity of their favorite bottles, you already know this timeless truth: vintages are everything. Each year is different. The true story of a bottle is always told through its vintage—revealing terroir, taste, origin, craft, integrity, and even financial upside. In wine, the pros buy first and foremost on vintage.
HOW TO DRINK IT

NEAT, IN A GLENCAIRN GLASS
BHAKTA 2013 Bourbon may well be the most complex bourbon available today—and its astounding depth, born of a secondary Armagnac cask finish, calls for close attention to the drinking experience. We recommend enjoying this Vintage Bourbon neat in a Glencairn glass so as to concentrate its explosive aromas of vanilla, butterscotch, and toasted oak. To separate its intense flavors, some connoisseurs prefer to add a drop of water. . . but no more than two. If you prefer your whiskey on the rocks, we strongly suggest that you use just one large cube, or—better yet—a single globe of ice. Take your time enjoying its aromas before your first sip.
BHAKTA 50 is no ordinary spirit—and extraordinary spirits stand alone. To enjoy neat, serve between 38° and 48° F in a tulip glass; on the rocks, use a globe of ice, or no more than two cubes of pure ice. Take a moment to appreciate BHAKTA 50’s exquisite aromas, complex flavor profile, and smoky notes born of its Islay finish. Pour for friends. Ponder The Spirit of Time.

“Single Vintage Spirits are the absolute pinnacle of drinks: today, tomorrow, and yesterday.
There is no more precise indicator of quality and provenance than vintage, and only BHAKTA owns the oldest, largest, and rarest collection of vintage spirits on Earth. Enthusiasts no longer need to settle for empty and misleading ‘Age Statements.'”

3
Charred New Oak Finish
The distillate is aged in a charred American New Oak Barrel for 9 years and 5 months.
4
Transportation to Vermont
The Bourbon makes the long journey East to our Vermont headquarters.
5
Armagnac cask finish
The Bourbon is aged for another 2 months in casks that had previously been holding blends of vintage Armagnacs from 1868 - 1970.
6
Hand-Bottled
Finally, the Bourbon is hand-bottled by our team in Vermont.
